HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR BOXING GLOVE?
There are several selection criteria to choose the boxing glove that best suits your needs.
The factors to consider are:
MATERIAL: Leather or synthetic leather?
CLOSURE: Velcro or laced?
WEIGHT: How many ounces * are suitable for me?
MODEL: What design and padding?
* OUNCES: The ounce, indicated by the symbol OZ, is still used in the United States and is worth one sixteenth (1/16) of a pound (pound). One pound is equal to 453.59 grams, one ounce is equal to 28.35 grams and indicates the total weight of the glove.
The indication "OZ" means "ounces" and indicates the weight of boxing gloves. One ounce contains about 28.35 grams. And: the higher the ounce number, the heavier and more padded the gloves are.
Overview Ounces = weight of boxing gloves
Children: 6 to 8 OZ
Women: 10 OZ or 10 M OZ if they have very small hands
On the bag: bag gloves
Training with the teacher, technique and pads training: 10 OZ
Sparring: 14 to 16 OZ
Heavyweight boxers: 16 OZ to 18 OZ
For the fight: gloves specially designed and marked for the fight (usually laced) Please note the specifications and guidelines of the organizer and the association.
The ounces depend on the weight class of the boxer and the intended use. They become proportionally larger the higher the ounces.
These weight estimates are purely indicative and are intended to provide a theoretical reference point.
The choice of glove size also depends on the desired use of the glove (intensity, frequency and type of training) or the level of protection you want (the heavier the glove, the more foam layers protect the fist).
Do not hesitate to ask your coach for advice if you are unsure.
WHICH MODEL?
With different materials, closure and weight.
Always choose based on how you train.
Regular use [1-2 times a week]
For those who approach ring sports or train with moderate frequency.
We recommend: synthetic glove, velcro closure
Heavy use [3-4 times a week]
For the experienced athlete who constantly trains and practices sparring.
We recommend: Synthetic or 50/50 leather and synthetic glove, velcro closure
Professional use [5-7 times a week]
For the agonist, the professional and all those who seek top performance in their daily training
We recommend: Leather glove, velcro or lace closure, 12-18 OZ.
Leather: The real leather gloves are much softer, more resistant and suitable for all those who are looking for a quality and durable product. It is the choice of the most demanding fighters who train intensively.
Synthetic leather: Synthetic gloves are the best compromise between quality and price. Recommended for those who approach ring sports or train with moderate frequency. The middle choice are gloves with leather back and synthetic palm: excellent reaction of the skin to impacts but lightness guaranteed by the synthetic material.
