Detox and antioxidants
Detox means 'to cleanse the body'. The body mainly does this itself through the liver, gall bladder and kidneys. But it doesn't hurt to give your body a little help from time to time. No alcohol or fatty foods for a while, but lots of water, vegetables and fruit!
Detox: What are antioxidants and what are they good for?
An unbalanced diet and industrially produced foods favour the development of oxidative stress, as many ready meals are filling but hardly provide enough micronutrients or antioxidants. Intensive sunbathing or smoking also increase the formation of free radicals. Antioxidants are substances such as vitamins, minerals and secondary plant substances that can counteract the harmful effects of oxidation and support detoxification.
Detox with antioxidants
This means that the main task of antioxidants is to prevent certain chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, stroke and, in particular, to counteract the ageing process of the skin. It is important to eat a balanced and healthy diet, as this automatically provides you with a large number of antioxidants. The best known of these are Vitamin C and E, beta-carotene and trace elements such as zinc and selenium.
Important antioxidants
Vitamin E Vitamin E is found in vegetable oils, nuts and leafy vegetables. Vitamin E is involved in the metabolism of all cells and prevents the breakdown of the body's own tissue. A detox programme should therefore always be rich in ingredients containing vitamin E.
Vitamin C Vitamin C is found in citrus fruits, cabbage, peppers, tomatoes and strawberries. It is important for the formation of collagen - a protein that gives structure to bones, cartilage, muscles and blood vessels. Bone broths are ideal for supplying the body with sufficient minerals and are available in our shop.
Q10 Coenzyme Q10 boosts energy, strengthens the immune system and acts as an antioxidant. Primary food sources of coenzyme Q10 are fatty fish such as salmon, as well as peanuts and wholemeal products. In addition, more and more superfoods from around the world are being discovered that have a particularly high vitamin and nutrient content.
Curcuma The curcuma plant belongs to the ginger family. The curcumin it contains has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect and removes heavy metals from the body. Turmeric also helps with digestive problems and helps with weight loss thanks to its metabolism-stimulating effect.
