Isolat
Whey Isolate - What is it, what are its benefits?
Whey isolate is a particularly high-quality protein. The protein obtained from the whey in milk is known as whey protein concentrate and serves as the starting material for the production of isolate. In addition to pure protein, it also contains a few per cent milk fat and a few per cent carbohydrates, mainly lactose. If fat and carbohydrates are removed in a further processing step, whey isolate is obtained. This is then practically pure protein from the whey.
Who is whey isolate suitable for and why?
Advantages of whey isolate
In terms of protein supply to the body, whey concentrate and isolate are very similar. However, the high purity of whey isolate brings some additional benefits:
Whey isolate for zero carb or low carb and diet
If you are following a particularly strict diet or a low-carb concept, the few per cent of carbohydrates and fat in whey concentrate can be a problem under certain circumstances. If you are very strict about this, it is therefore better to use isolate. Although this means higher costs, the carbohydrates and fat content of whey concentrate can be avoided.
Whey isolate for lactose intolerance
As more and more people today have difficulty digesting milk sugar (lactose), interest in whey isolate is also increasing. Unlike whey concentrate, isolate does not contain any lactose and can therefore also be used by people with lactose malabsorption or lactose intolerance.
