Mouthguard Keeps Falling Out - Common Fitting Mistakes and How to Avoid Them A mouthguard is one of t

A mouthguard is one of the most important pieces of protective equipment in boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai and many other combat sports. Still, many people have the same problem: the mouthguard does not stay in place, falls out while talking or feels loose during sparring. In most cases, the problem is not the model itself but incorrect fitting. At the Vikingstore in Bern, we regularly see mouthguards being fitted the wrong way. Even small mistakes during the first fitting process can lead to poor hold and comfort later on.

Differences in mouthguards - what types of mouthguards are available

In all sports that are even remotely related to boxing, Thai boxing, MMA and kickboxing, it is generally mandatory for athletes to wear a mouthguard. There is an obvious reason for this: teeth can break or even fall out in the event of kicks (as in Muay Thai and kickboxing) or punches to the face. These injuries are not only extremely painful, but can also be irreparable. A mouthguard - actually more correctly called a mouthguard - protects against such injuries. This is done in a very simple way: The mouthguard consists of a plastic splint that is worn over the teeth and stabilises their shape. The mouthguard remains in position even under mechanical stress on the jaw and teeth. In this blog post, we present all the important aspects of mouthguards in sport and also showcase some mouthguard models.
