Bandaging hands in boxing and kickboxing
Protecting the hands is very important. They consist of many small, fragile bones that need to be held together in boxing when they hit something hard, such as a head or a punching bag. Hand bandages stabilise the hands during fights, sparring or punching bag training. The wrapping technique is crucial when bandaging the hands.

1.) Firstly, we hang the loop around the thumb and pull the boxing bandage taut so that the thumb loop does not hang loose during the rest of the wrapping process.

2.) Then wrap the bandage twice around the wrist.

3.) In the next step, we wrap the bandage around the wrist until we can place the bandage across the back of the hand between the little finger and the ring finger.

4.) Next, wrap the bandage around the little finger and bring it back to the wrist. We pass the bandage once around the wrist and pull the bandage between the ring finger and middle finger. Then around the ring finger and back to the wrist. After each finger wrap, clench your fist once to tighten the boxing bandage.

5.) We repeat this wrapping around the finger and again twice around the wrist for the middle and index finger.

6.) Then tie the bandage around the wrist again and go over the back of the hand to the thumb. We tie the thumb the other way round, i.e. not from the outside but from the inside. Unlike the other fingers, we wrap the thumb twice in conjunction with the wrist. Wrap the rest of the boxing bandage around the wrist until you can close the Velcro fastener.

Alternatively, undergloves can also be used. For example: Everlast underglove or Leone underglove
Please note that these are not permitted in a fight. Find out about the rules from the respective organiser and/or association.
