We are pleased to introduce you to Gabriel Koureya , a promising professional boxer from St. Gallen, who wants to conquer the boxing world with his determination and passion. We recently had the honour of welcoming Gabriel to our Vikingstore in St. Gallen. There he was kitted out with our extensive range of high quality equipment to support him on his journey. As part of our mission to support talented athletes, we are proud to stand by Gabriel and provide him with the best products for his training and fighting. In this interview, Gabriel shares his inspiring journey, his challenges and his ambitious goals for the future. Let his story motivate you!
What motivated you to become a professional boxer?
Gabriel explains: "My big motivation is my family and the desire to become a boxing legend. I want to reach the top and be world champion one day." This dream drives him on and motivates him to give his all in training every day.
What was your path from amateur to professional boxing like?
Gabriel had several amateur fights and gained experience abroad. "I organised most of it on my own - without a permanent trainer. In Switzerland, however, I had René Engler and Salvatore Guerreri at my side." This time not only helped him a lot, but also showed him what is important in the professional world. "With the support of my family and Alexander Nedbei, I was able to take the hard road to professional boxing and make a successful international start."

What are your biggest sporting goals for the next few years?
His goal is clear: "I want to gain as much experience as possible, win titles and ultimately become world champion. I'm working hard to realise this dream." After every fight and training session, he feels one step closer to his goal.
What does your daily training look like and how does it differ from your training as an amateur?
Gabriel trains between 18 and 24 hours a week, often two to three times a day. "As an amateur, I trained 10 times a week. The difference lies in the intensity and discipline. Training as a professional is a completely different challenge." In addition to physical training, the mental aspect is just as important to him.
How do you prepare mentally for a fight?
"Sparring is an important part of my mental preparation. I also only surround myself with positive people who motivate me - both in training and in life. I always have victory in mind." This attitude helps him to be focussed and ready for any challenge.
What role do nutrition and supplements play in your training?
Nutrition is the foundation of his performance: "I pay a lot of attention to the quality of my food and supplements in order to optimally nourish my body and improve my performance. I also rely on Vikingstore.ch." With the right nutrients in the form of high-quality supplements, he ensures that he achieves his athletic goals.
What has been your biggest challenge as a professional boxer so far?
"As a professional, you have to take care of almost everything yourself - that brings more stress and requires a lot of strategic thinking. The management, organisation and training all have to be perfectly coordinated." This aspect of professional sport is a constant challenge, but Gabriel embraces it.
Was there a fight that had a particular impact on you?
One memorable moment was his third professional fight in Montenegro at 28.12.2024. "My aunt died on the morning of the fight. That was a heavy emotional burden, but I managed to focus and win the fight." This experience has made him stronger and shows how resilient he is.
Do you have a role model or a boxer who inspires you?
Gabriel names several role models: "Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Deontay Wilder, Dimitry Bivol and my trainer Alexander Nedbei. Each of these boxers has a special quality that inspires me." He learns from their fights and techniques to improve his own skills.
What advice would you give to young fighters who want to become professionals?
His advice to aspiring athletes is clear: "Believe in yourself, stay focussed and disciplined. Only with hard work, determination and the right mindset can you make it to the top - no matter where you start from."
Gabriel's story is not only an impressive journey of an athlete, but also an example of the relentless fighting spirit and dedication required in sport. We at Vikingstore are thrilled to support Gabriel on his journey to becoming a world champion and to support him with our high-quality equipment and supplements.
