How long have you been training?
I have been bodybuilding since around 1996. Back then it was completely in.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was completely new to the film industry and inspired a lot of people. Just like me.
Favourite exercise:
"Preacher curl" with barbell. I can really feel the pump there. All the exercises for the arms are my favourites.
Nutrition:
06:00
Millet and oat flakes and half an apple are mixed with 2 tablespoons of safflower oil and water to make a porridge.
I need something warm and filling at the start of the day. Comfort food!
Glutamine and Whey from Vikingstore.
09:00
Chicken with rice and broccoli
12:00
Caseien shake from the Vikingstore with approx. 2 tablespoons rapeseed oil
13:00
Pangasius fillet with approx. broccoli
After training:
Whey proteins from Vikingstore
In the competition phase, all shakes are replaced by solid food.
20:00
An omelette made from 9 egg whites and 1 whole egg or 1 tin of Thon Red in sunflower oil
22:00 Before going to bed so that my muscles are supplied with protein overnight
Caseien from the Vikingstore made into a pudding.
Which supplements do you use?
Zinc, vitamin D injections, glutamine. Potassium, casein and whey
How did you experience your competition in England?
The competition in Birmingham was new to me and the programme was a little different to the competitions in Switzerland. The standard was relatively high.
The people were relaxed, friendly and courteous, which is more than I can say for the Swiss.
There was a very large field with around 60 athletes taking part. Some of them came from Liverpool, Manchester and London.
The year has gone very well for me so far and I've met a lot of friendly people who love the sport as much as I do.
What have you learnt this year?
Posing with Bernd also gave me a certain self-confidence as choreography is not exactly my speciality. Bernd also showed me the patience I needed to give my best. He showed me some tips and tricks to present myself better and practised and designed the routine together with me.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in sport?
As a beginner, everyone probably makes the same mistake - putting too many weights on and not doing the exercises properly. The main thing is that it looks good.
I would advise all beginners to reflect on themselves and find out what their goals are. You shouldn't be ashamed to seek advice.
It's a big step to jump over your ego and look for help. When I think of all the wasted time and money, I wish I had invested right from the start.
Your role model:
My role model in the bodybuilding scene is Lee Priest. He's about the same size as me and he's always been an inspiration. He just did his thing and showed everyone what he was made of.
Do you do cardio training?
Cardio is essential. I always do a minimum of 20 - 30 minutes after each training session. In the competition phase, this workload increases to around 40 minutes.
On Sundays, I go swimming with my partner for about 40 minutes. She supports me a lot.
