Super Food wheatgrass - the green power pack

Wheatgrass powder is a popular dietary supplement. Here you can find out what effect the superfood has and how to use it.

Wheatgrass and its ingredients

Wheatgrass refers to the grasses of the wheat plant before it forms its typical spikes. Wheatgrass is therefore gluten-free. Wheatgrass also contains important vitamins (per 100 grams):

- Vitamin C: 97 milligrams

- Vitamin E: 9 milligrams

- Vitamin B1: 0.4 milligrams

- Vitamin B2: 1.3 milligrams

- Vitamin B6: 0.9 milligrams

You can easily take wheatgrass in powder form. You can buy ready-made wheatgrass powder from us, for example. Alternatively, you can also make it yourself by growing wheatgrass in a germination box, drying it and then processing it into powder using a mortar.

Studies that have not been conducted on humans, however, attribute the following health-promoting effects to the superfood:

- It has an anti-inflammatory effect.

- The high antioxidant content is said to prevent cancer.

- It can normalise cholesterol levels.

How to use wheatgrass powder

You can mix wheatgrass powder with water to make wheatgrass juice. However, if you find the taste of pure wheatgrass too intense, you can also add the powder to a smoothie, yoghurt or muesli. You should not heat wheatgrass powder as this can destroy the valuable vitamins.

Are there any side effects of consuming wheatgrass juice?

Wheatgrass is a natural food and is not harmful when consumed in appropriate quantities. As wheatgrass is said to have a detoxifying effect, it can cause headaches, nausea and dizziness. Diarrhoea and allergic reactions can also occur. In these cases, consumption should be reduced or stopped altogether.

Wheatgrass can therefore contribute to, support and supplement a healthy diet in the correct dosage, but it is not necessary and should not be seen as the main source of vitamin intake or as a miracle cure.
